Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) has the meaning of 'Dream, Design and Play'.

DDP is a multi-cultural complex designed to support the spread of culture and the development of design and fashion in South Korea.

It has staged diverse cultural events including exhibitions, fashion shows, product launch shows, forums and conferences.

Designed by Renowned Architect

The Dongdaemun Design Plaza (DDP) was designed by late Zaha Hadid, an Iraqi-born British world-renowned architect. DDP's exterior features over 40,000 aluminium panels, none of which are the same.

Facilities at Dongdaemun Design Plaza

The plaza is home to various exhibition spaces, design museum, sky lounge, rest area, souvenir shop and restaurants.

Igansumun Floodgate of Seoul City Wall

The ground level of the area between Site of Ogansumun Floodgate (@Cheonggyecheon Stream) and Igansumun Floodgate (@Dongdaemun Design Palza) was the lowest in Seoul.

The runoff from the four inner mountains flowed down outside the wall through these floodgates.

Igansumun Floodgate which was unearthed and located at Dongdaemun Design Plaza has been almost entirely preserved in its original form, but there are no remaining traces of Ogansumun Floodgate.

LED Rose Garden (officially closed on 30 Apr 2019)

Started as a special temporary exhibition on 18 Apr 2015, the Rose Garden has gained much popularity to become a permanent fixture. It has a total of 25,550 LED roses that automatically light up on night fall, attracting many locals and tourists.

Many Korean dramas were filmed here as well, including the well-known SBS drama 'You Who Came from the Stars', KBS2 drama 'Producer' and MBC drama 'She Was Pretty'.
