Semiwon Garden resembles a large park where you can leisurely walk through on your way to Dumulmeori.
The best time to visit Semiwon Garden is summer to early autumn when the annual Lotus Cultural Festival (late June to mid August) and Water Lily Cultural Festival (mid August to October) are held.

Lotus Flowers (Perry Memorial Pond, White Lotus Pond & Red Lotus Pond)
Lotus flowers are the main highlight of Semiwon Garden. There are over 50 species of lotus flowers and 60 species of water plants that grow in the large 1320㎡ compound. It is a glorious sight to behold when the lotus flowers bloom beautifully in summer especially in late June to early August.
💡Morning is the best time to see the blooming lotus flowers as the flower buds gradually close in the afternoon.
💡Perry Memorial Pond is developed and donated by world-renowned lotus researcher Perry Slocum.

Water Lilies (Victoria Pond & Tropical Water Lily Pond)
The other highlight of Semiwon Garden is the water lilies. At Victoria Pond, you can see the giant leaves of Victoria Water Lilies from Amazon with its flowers changing colour through its flowering period in July and August. Other colourful water lilies can be found at Tropical Water Lily Pond with its flowering period till October.

Sehanjeong is a garden created and modelled after a famous ink painting, 'Sehando' (National Treasure No. 180) by Chusa Kim Jeong-hui, a great scholar and calligrapher of the late Joseon Dynasty. 'Sehando' was created in his difficult time when he was sent in exile to Jeju Island, the most remote location from capital city Seoul in 1840.
Sehanjeong Garden

The elegant Sehanjeong Garden features pine and cypress trees which symbolise unyielding principles and faithful devotion in Korean culture. There are other artworks on display too.
💡You can view the donated, historic and original painting of Joseon Dynasty, 'Sehando' on display at National Museum of Korea in Seoul.

The 245m long pontoon bridge was built by connecting 44 boats, recreating the boat bridge built by King Jeongjo of the Joseon Dynasty in 1795. At each end of the bridge is Hongsilmun Gate, erected to symbolise the King's authority and piety towards his followers. Also, Obanggi and Gochogae flags used to command the military during Joseon Dynasty are set up on each boat.
The bridge now served as a vital passageway to connect visitors between Semiwon and Dumulmeori without making a detour.
