Seoul Forest is open year-round, 24 hours a day except for the following attractions:

  • Eco Forest (Deer Corral & Footbridge): 5:30 - 21:30

  • Insect & Plant Garden: 10:00 - 17:00 (Mar - Oct) / 10:00 - 16:00 (Nov - Feb). Last admission: 30 mins before closing. Closed on Mondays.

  • Butterfly Garden: 10:00-17:00 (May - Oct). Last admission: 30 mins before closing. Closed on Mondays.

  • Splash Fountain: 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 (May, Jun, Sep) / 12:00, 13:00, 14:00, 15:00, 16:00 (Jul, Aug), 30 mins. 

  • Visitor Center: 9:00 - 18:00. Free wheelchair & stroller rentals for up to 2 hrs. ID Required.

Seoul Forest is a very large park in Seongsu-dong known for its cherry blossoms, tulips, ginkgo forest, deer corral and nearby attractions of Seoul Forest Cafe Street and KWANGYA SEOUL by SM Entertainment.

Seoul Forest has gone through a number of transition from hunting grounds for the kings, first water treatment facility in Seoul, horse racing tracks, golf course, sports park to the present eco-friendly city park.

The beauty of Seoul Forest can be enjoyed across the four seasons of Korea.

SPRING Highlights - Cherry Blossoms

Compared to the more well-known Yeouido Spring Flower Festival and Seokchon Lake Cherry Blossom Festival packed with visitors and tourists, cherry blossoms viewing at Seoul Forest is more chill as it is surrounded in nature with joyful picnickers. Cherry blossoms at Seoul Forest typically bloom from end-March to early-April.

a) Cherry Blossoms @PARK 1 – CULTURE & ART PARK

Locals celebrate spring together with friends and families picnicked under the pretty Cherry Blossom Trees at Culture & Art Park (near Gate 2). So, grab your picnic basket (/takeaway food) and picnic mat this coming spring to Seoul Forest!

b) Cherry Blossoms @PARK 2 – ECO FOREST

Head over to the overhead footbridge at Eco Forest (near Gate 11) and you will be mesmerised by rows of Cherry Blossom Trees and sights of deer below the footbridge. Also, you can get down from the footbridge and walk along the glorious Cherry Tree Path that extends to PARK 3 - Insect Garden & Butterfly Garden.

c) Tulips @PARK 1 – CULTURE & ART PARK

Following the high of cherry blossom season, Tulips take over the limelight with their vibrant colour display at Seoul Forest. They generally reach full bloom from mid-April to end-April/early-May, subject to the weather conditions during their growth season.

If you are coming from Gate 2 of Seoul Forest, walk straight past the Horse Statues, Splash Fountain and Mirror Lake. After Mirror Lake, go left on the path towards Winter Garden where you will see big clusters of Tulips along the way.

d) Apple Blossoms @PARK 3 – EXPERIENTIAL LEARNING PARK

Unknown to many, there is an Apple Tree Road (near Gate 16) in the same direction towards Honeybee Garden, Insect Garden and Butterfly Garden at Seoul Forest. You can enjoy pale-pink apple flower buds and crystal-white apple blossoms generally from mid-April to end-April at Seoul Forest.

e) Other Spring Flowers

You can also find Magnolias, Daffodils and other flowers in spring at Seoul Forest.

SUMMER Highlights - Hydrangeas, Peonies, Poppies & Yellow Irises

During summer, Seoul Forest reaches it peak vibrancy, transitioning into lush shades of green. Added to it nature colour palette are Hydrangeas, Peonies, Poppies and Yellow Irises in full bloom too.

AUTUMN Highlights - Ginkgo Forest

Autumn foliage can be enjoyed around Seoul Forest with Ginkgo Tree Forest the favourite spot for many. Tall, golden yellow Ginkgo Trees lined along the path, creating a truly beautiful sight to behold.

Besides the Ginkgo Forest, you can also enjoy other beautiful scenes in autumn at Seoul Forest.

Winter Highlights - Snowscape

On heavy snow fall in Seoul, nature and photo enthusiasts rush to Seoul Forest to capture the exquisite snow-covered nature landscapes, particularly spectacular with the tall Metasequoia Trees on the backdrop.

Interestingly, there is a fairly large Deer Corral with quite a number of pretty-looking deer located at Park 2 - Eco Forest of Seoul Forest. You can purchase deer food from the vending machine and feed to the deer too.

If you would like to see most of the interesting attractions at this big park, you can consider renting a bicycle/pedal kart that allows you to cruise around and enjoy the sights along the way effortlessly. The pedal karts will be particularly fun for families travelling with young kids.

Conveniently, there is a bicycle and pedal kart rental shop, Seoul Forest Park Bicycle Rental Station 서울숲공원자전거대여소 located just outside Gate 5 of Seoul Forest.

Rental charges start from ₩5,000/hr for single bicycle, ₩10,000/hr for single pedal kart to ₩27,000/hr for 4-person pedal kart (prices subject to change). Photo ID required for bicycle rental in Seoul.​

Hangang Waterside Park 한강수변공원

From Seoul Forest - Eco Forest (Gate 11), there is an overhead footbridge that connects directly to Hangang Waterside Park where you can enjoy the scenic Han River and view of N Seoul Tower from afar.

Eungbongsan Mountain 응봉산

Travelling between Seoul Forest and Eungbongsan Mountain is extremely popular for the adventurous and especially during spring when the yellow Forsythia (flowers) are in full bloom across the whole mountainside.

To get to Eungbonsan Mountain, you can exit from Gate 9 of Seoul Forest. Walk straight ahead on the right side of the road leading to Yongbigyo Bridge crossing. Upon reaching the other side of the bridge, continue walking until you see the wooden stairs up to Eunbongsan Mountain.

From Eungbongsan Mountain, you can walk down the path leading to the nearest subway station, Eungbong Station (Gyeongui–Jungang Line) for your next destination.

Under Stand Avenue 언더스탠드에비뉴

Under Stand Avenue is a pedestrian-friendly street located near exit 4 of Seoul Forest Station, along the way to Seoul Forest (Gate 2). It is cultural space installed with 116 container boxes similar to Konkuk University's Common Ground but on a smaller scale.

 

If you only have time for a drink, check out the fairly large Cafe Seoul Forest at Under Stand Avenue.

Seoul Forest Cafe Street 서울숲 카페거리

If you wish to chill out at a cafe or have a meal, check out Seoul Forest Cafe Street located right next to Seoul Forest (Gate 4/5). This is an area of charming streets with speciality cafes, popular restaurants and beautiful fashion/accessories shops.

From Seoul Forest Cafe Street, depending on which subway line is more convenient for your onwards journey, you can go to either Ttukseom Station (line 2, exit 8) or back to Seoul Forest Station (Suin-Bundang line, exit 5).

 

D Tower Seoul Forest 디타워서울포레스트 @Seoul Forest Station

D Tower Seoul Forest is a building complex directly connected to Seoul Forest Station (exit 4/5) in Seongsu-dong. It is home to one of the largest K-POP agencies, SM Entertainment which have relocated its headquarters from Gangnam in 2021. Right next to it sits one of Korea's most expensive apartment complexes, Acro Seoul Forest.

Though D Tower Seoul Forest is primarily a prime office building with restricted public access from 2F onwards, there are well-known stores, bakeries, cafes and restaurants on 1F and B1 worthy of a visit.

KWANGYA SEOUL is a popular multi-cultural space for K-POP fans, operated by SM Entertainment. You can find albums and merchandise of SM's K-POP artists/groups such as NCT, EXO, aespa, Red Velvet and SHINee. There are AR Experience Zone and Photo Zone too.
