As abandoned factories were renovated into large, industrial-like cafes with their own unique charms, more and more people started visiting Seongsu-dong. It is here that the popular cafe, Cafe Onion opened its first store, 'Cafe Onion Seongsu' in 2016 based from an old building built in the 1970s.

In 2021, one of Korea's top entertainment companies, SM Entertainment relocated its headquarters from Gangnam to Seongsu-dong and opened its retail experience store, 'KWANGYA SEOUL' here as well. Several other entertainment companies also relocated to Seongsu-dong.

In 2022, the luxury brand DIOR opened its spectacular and much-photographed glass-structured, 'DIOR Seongsu' store in Seongsu-dong.

Orientation of Seongsu-dong

Seongsu-dong is located in Seongdong-gu District in Eastern Seoul at the confluence of Hangang River and Jungnangcheon Stream. Directly across Han River from Seongsu-dong are two of Korea's wealthiest neighbourhoods, Apgujeong-dong and Cheongdam-dong of the famous Gangnam District.

Seongsu-dong 1ga - western area from Ttukseom Station to Seoul Forest Station where Seoul Forest (eco-friendly park), Seoul Forest Cafe Street and KWANGYA SEOUL (retail experience store) by SM Entertainment are located.
Seongsu-dong 2ga - eastern area around Seongsu Station to Yeongdong Bridge/Dongil-ro Road, hereon referred as 'Seongsu', the hot spot.

Seongsu Station (Seoul Subway Line 2) is centrally located along Achasan-ro Road in Seongsu-dong.

From Seoungu Station:

Exit 2 - get you across Achasan-ro road where the 'early pioneers' of Seongsu are based (e.g. Cafe Onion Seongsu & AMORE Seongsu)

Exit 3 - lead to Seongsui-ro road where nyunyu House Seongsu Station, MUSINSA EMPTY SEONGSU & MUSINSA KICKS Seongsu are located near the station's exit.

Exit 4 - lead to Yeonmujang 7-gil street where Olive Young N Seongsu is located.

Exit 3 and Exit 4 are the most popular subway station exits, 3 mins walk straight to Seongsu's main shopping street, Yeonmujang-gil.

🧸To ensure pedestrian safety, some areas of Yeonmujang-gil are closed to vehicle traffic on weekend (Sat & Sun, 14:00 - 18:00). Outside the vehicle restriction timing, please walk safely and look out for traffic while in Seongsu.

MUSINSA started as an online sneaker community in 2001 to a dominant fashion, beauty and lifestyle corporation of today.

Opened since 1983, Somunnan Seongsu Gamjatang is considered a representative restaurant in Seongsu well-visited by both locals and overseas tourists.

The Korean restaurant is located 3 mins walk from Seongsu Station (exit 4), passing Olive Young N Seongsu and just before Yeonmujang-gil cross road (/Shake Shack). Queue is often spotted outside the restaurant and you have to wait in line before being led to your table either in the main building or annex. The annex (2F) is more spacious and you can order via the tablet at table here.

There are solo dining seats with potato soup served in earthen pot instead of the bigger pot of gamjatang (Korean pork bone soup) with induction cooktop fitted at the table. If you order sujebi (hand-pulled noodles), they will 'tear' the dough into small pieces and add it to the gamjatang pot in front of you. You can also end the meal with the equally well-received fried rice prepared directly on your remaining gamjatang pot with added seaweed flakes, fresh perilla leaves and sesame oil.

Menchuru Seongsu is a small authentic Japanese-style ramen restaurant located 3 mins walk from Seongsu Station (exit 3).

You can grab a drink as early as noon at Seoul Brewery Seongsu, a craft beer brewery located in a building (B1-5F & Rooftop) with lift access.

Seoul Brewery Seongsu has a neat, zen interior and offers a wide variety of craft beer in a nice atmosphere. There are indoor and outdoor courtyard areas on 1F which also operates as a cafe. If you follow the hallway on the left of the building, you will find the elevator to the more spacious 2F pub. On top of beer, there are wine, non-alcoholic beverages and snacks. B1 is the brewery and 5F is only opened on jazz 'days'.

The brewery is located 7 mins walk from Seongsu Station (exit 4) and you can make advance reservation through CatchTable app.
